VSP Vision Plan

While many people have health insurance through their places of employment, a great number of those do not have dental or vision coverage. VSP Vision Plan is available through many employers but it is also available for individuals and families. In the United States there are more than 55 million members, which means that at least one out of every six people in the country has vision care with VSP. If you do not have vision coverage at your current place of employment or are unemployed, self employed or retired, VSP has an affordable vision care plan in every state across the country with a nationwide network of VSP doctors an average of 4 miles from where you members live.

VSP Choice Plan Co-Pays & Discounts
The VSP Choice Plan for individuals has a broad range of features and coverages that actually save you more money than you pay in premiums and co-pays! While the cost of insurance varies from state to state, you could save more in a single visit to the eye doctor than you pay for an entire year’s premium! The co-pay for an eye exam is $15 and the co-pay for prescription glasses is $25 when provided by a VSP doctor. However, the frames are covered up to $120 and anything above that is available at a 20% discount.

Allowance for Contacts & Extra Savings
The prescription lenses that are covered in full include single vision, lined bifocals or trifocals and for children, polycarbonate lenses. There is a $120 allowance if you choose to go with contact lenses instead of glasses which includes the exam and the fitting of the lenses. If you opt for lenses that are not covered under the plan, there is an average savings of 20 to 25% and an additional $25 off an extra pair of prescription glasses, including sunglasses.

VSP Network of Providers
There are an amazing number of VSP providers around the country with more than 26,000 doctors who are associated with almost 20,000 offices nationwide. These providers offer a “one stop” service of eye care products and services which include the visit to the doctor for the exam as well as the eyewear prescribed. Because of the great number of doctors in the VSP network, members never need to go far from home for their exam or to pick up their prescription glasses or lenses.

Where to Find a VSP Vision Plan
VSP is available through a national network of insurance brokers. As a matter of fact, there are at least 16,000 consultants and brokers around the country that includes general agents, independents and national brokerage firms. Insurance brokers can help match you with the vision plan that best meets your needs whether you are looking for an individual plan, a family plan, or a plan for your business and employees. At the moment VSP services more than 35,000 clients of which there are more than 100 different health plans carrying optional vision coverage.

Even if your job offers some other vision plan that is not as affordable or comprehensive as VSP, you can still purchase a plan with VSP independent of your current health care insurance. Because vision and dental are optional features to health care packages, you are always free to choose which plan is best for you and your family. For more information, contact a VSP Vision Plan broker online. Also, if you don’t currently have dental insurance, VSP has a package that provides discounts for vision and dental services at a savings of 15% to 50% for as little as $6.95 monthly.
